Westwood Badminton Club was established in 1977, and is a  friendly, informal adults only (over 18) “Pay As You Play” club, for players of an Intermediate standard. Unfortunately we are unable to cater for children at any time, nor do we do coaching. There are no membership fees – you simply pay on the night.

We play badminton at Sutton High School for Girls from 19:00 to 21.00 p.m. on Thursdays. Typically about 24 people play each week on 4 courts, mostly mixed games, and there is a quick turnover of players,  so you won’t be sitting out for long.

We welcome anyone and everyone, but we do ask that you are not an outright beginner, that you bring your own racquet, and preferably have some previous experience of club playing. We call ourselves intermediate standard, which means that we have been playing for a few years, know how to serve, score, and where to stand, and can keep a fast rally going reasonably well. We have to mention this, as it wouldn't be fair otherwise on the other players. We play with plastic shuttles, blue speed Yonex with yellow foils, and all games are played as mixed doubles matches. Everything is friendly, relaxed and informal, there is no pegging system.
